Descripción : At present, there is a persistent concern about the use of pesticides and agrochemicals in agricultural activities, whose toxic effects are a source of apprehension for the population worldwide. Therefore, a progressive increase in the use of biostimulants, among them the oligosaccharides of xyloglucans. These are involved in the stimulation of natural processes that benefit the development of plants and generate responses under conditions of biotic and / or abiotic stress in plants. This Project evaluates the changes of catalase (CAT) gene expression and relative presence of the CAT enzyme induced by xyloglucan oligosaccharide (XGO) treatment under normal conditions and saline stress in Arabidopsis thaliana plants planted in vitro. Plants of A. thaliana were planted in liquid MS medium, the same ones that were grown for a period of 15 days, samples were collected pertaining to T0 (negative control of time 0 before induction). Subsequently an induction was performed in culture media, adding 100 mM NaCl ± 0.1 mg.L-1 of XGO and samples were taken at 24 and 72 hours post-induction. To validate the changes in gene expression, the relative expression of the cat gene was analyzed by real-time PCR. The relative presence of the enzyme Catalase was determined by Western blotting and enzyme activity was determined by spectrophotometry. We demonstrated that levels of gene expression of the cat gene increased significantly, in the presence of XGO and NaCl at 24 hours post-induction. As well as, the relative presence of the CAT enzyme was increased in the presence of XGO ± NaCl, at 72 hours post induction. Finally, an increase in the pattern of CAT activity was observed at 24 and 72 hours post induction, with and without saline stress. The results obtained in this work suggest that xyloglucan oligosaccharides are involved in the stimulation and activation of different defense mechanisms in plants against oxidative stress, which allow them to tolerate unfavorable conditions of saline stress.
