Descripción : Currently, in the city of Quito, the Digital Terrestrial Television service is broadcast by the Ecuador TV channel under the standard ISDB-Tb (Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial), hosted by Ecuador on March 26, 2010 through the ARCOTEL (Regulatory Agency and Control of Telecommunications) and disseminated in the Technical Standard for the digital terrestrial television broadcasting service. However, the deployment of the signal of the repeater station located in Cerro Pichincha does not fully supply the service Terrestrial Digital Television (TDT) in the city, due to the geographical condition, obtaining in certain points of the south of the city a level of field strength less than 51, which is not sufficient to interpret the information in the terminal devices. For this reason, is proposed to carry out the study of the implementation of an auxiliary station (gap-filler) to cover areas of shadow in the south of the city of Quito. This project aims to design a single frequency network (SFN) between the repeater station and the auxiliary station, using a single frequency channel in the transmitters, avoiding the interference between stations and eliminating the shadow zones with the implementation of the auxiliary repeater. In chapter 1, a breakdown of digital terrestrial television concepts will be made emphasizing the Japanese-Brazilian standard (ISDB-Tb) and the parameters necessary for the deployment of a SFN. In chapter 2, with the help of the BCDRIVE Broadcast Drive Test of the franchise Rohde and Schwarz, samples of the field intensity level are taken in the southern sector of the city, resulting in the need to implement an auxiliary station to cover the service in critical points where the emitted field strength does not meet the minimum reception parameters. In chapter 3, various parameters involved in the correct design of the single frequency network are calculated. With the support of the WinRPT software, the current situation of the TDT service emitted by Ecuador Tv is emulated, attaching the emulation of the design of the broadcast network to be implemented in the auxiliary station. In chapter 4, a detail of the cost inversion required for the deployment of the single frequency network will be made. In chapter 5, based on the experience gained from the development of this document, conclusions and recommendations will be made.
