| Descripción : | Huntington’s disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative hereditable illness which affects all the populations. HD incidence around the world is proximity to 5-10 patients for each 10 000 habitants. Even though this illness was described in 1872, in Ecuador there are few records about its incidence. In order to complete the information of the illness is necessary to know the genetic structure of the HD patients in the country. That is why the aim of this study was stablish the levels of ancestry, using 46 genetic markers AIMs-INDELs, of HD patients in the Ecuadorian population. The outputs showed that all the loci analizated where in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and they were not linkaged. HD patient’s can be clustering in three specific groups. The main ancestry proportions corresponded to Americans (83.7 %), European (14.5 %) and African (1.8 %) predecessor. The FST statistic showed that the studied population had the biggest difference with African population (0.39), with European (0.21) with Native American (0.07) and with controls (0.05). In conclusion, main ancestral component of the HD Ecuadorian patients comes from Native American origin. |
