Resumen : La presente investigación es de corte transversal y retrospectivo realizada desde un enfoque cualitativo. El objetivo es investigar desde las percepciones de mujeres madres y esposas que ocupan puestos de dirección en empresas privadas del norte de Quito cómo combinaron eventos del ciclo familiar, matrimonio y nacimiento de hijos, con sus trayectorias laborales. Para cumplir con dicho objetivo se realizaron diez entrevistas a profundidad semi estructuradas. Para el análisis de los datos arrojados por las entrevistas se utilizó la codificación abierta y axial perteneciente a la teoría fundamentada. Al finalizar con la investigación se presentaron diversos factores, redes de apoyo y estrategias organizativas que bajo la percepción de las mujeres entrevistadas jugaron un papel importante para que ellas continúen con sus trayectorias laborales y respondan con éxito a sus responsabilidades en el trabajo y la familia. Se encontró que las mujeres han combinado ambos eventos del ciclo familiar con sus trayectorias laborales tanto a través de su decisión personal de pertenecer e identificarse con las responsabilidades que ambos dominios exigieron de ellas como también a través de diferentes redes de apoyo que van desde el ámbito familiar como cónyuges y padres hasta el ámbito organizativo como la implementación de políticas de flexibilidad y trabajo por objetivos.
Descripción : This research is cross sectional, retrospective and has a qualitative approach. The Objective was to investigate the perceptions of mothers and wives who hold management positions in private companies in the north of Quito of how they combined family cycle events, marriage and birth of children with their career paths. Therefore, there were hold 10 semi structured interviews in depth. An open and axial coding corresponding to the grounded theory was used for the analysis of the obtained data from the interviews. At the end of the investigation there were presented several factors and supporting networks as well as organizations strategies which, in the perception of the interviewed women, played a major role for them to continue their career paths while successfully responding to their responsibilities in their family as well as in their workplaces. It was found that women could combine both events from their family cycle with their career paths; through their personal decision to persist working in their careers and identifying themselves with both responsibilities of family and work as well as receiving support from different networks, like family wise the spouses and parents or organizational wise the implementation of flexible working culture and the system of working with objectives.
