dc.descriptionThe torus are diseases that are characterized by abnormal growth of bone, localized at the level of the midline in the palate and lingual zones on the mandible of etiology not established, these pathologies tend to grow slowly, being able to submit form and variable size according to its classification; When the torus tend to grow in a disproportionate is when they cause problems to level oral as in speech, in chewing, to the placement of a prosthesis. Seeing the need for pathology which consists of the surgical removal of the same as well. The objective of this project was to establish the prevalence of palatal and mandibular torus in adult patients attending dental Udla. For which are selected randomly 400 male and female elderly patients, who attended the dental clinic UDLA. Began with the signing of authorization of the patient, through inspection and clinical observation by detecting the presence or absence of palatal or mandibular torus, scored data of Pathology, and took photos and then running a survey of those who presented the anomaly. Obtaining a rate results prevalence of torus of the (24.75 percent) higher incidence because of the small size, observed that there was a higher prevalence of palatal torus in the female gender (36.3 percent) and arising mainly from lobular form on the palate (39.2 percent) and nodular form in the mandible (39.5 percent), most of the patients studied did not have any knowledge of this disease , it was determined that el(100 percent) of the study population, did not show any discomfort because of the torus, as well as met that this pathology did not have significant family trend, concluding that there is a prevalence of non-significant of torus either palatal or mandible in the studied population.en
