Descripción : The Epulis fissuratum is considered as a multifactorial pathology is characterized as a mass of hyperplastic tissue or fibrous band generated in the mucosa of the vestibular groove bottoms in the upper and lower jaw, generally provoked by the use of maladaptive dentures. Objective: Determine the prevalence of Fissured Epulis in elderly patients in public elder care centers in the Historical Center of Quito. Methods and Materials: 100 patients older than 60 years who were in public elder care centers and fulfilling the inclusion criteria were selected. By means of the observation, the clinical examination was carried out and whether or not the study pathology was present. Patients with pathology were then asked to complete the survey for data collection. Results: In relation to the prevalence, 38 of 100 examined patients had Epulis Fissuratum that is a 38 percent, in addition, the gender with the highest incidence was the female with 63.15 percent (24 women) of 38 evidenced the pathology. It also turned out that the main cause was the prolonged use of maladaptive or loose dentures (50.7 percent); also, the most relevant localization was the vestibular groove fund corresponding to the maxilla in the mouth. Conclusion: The results conclude that there is a high prevalence of Fissured Epulis or Fibrous Hyperplasia in the evaluated population.
