Descripción : The present research is observational, descriptive and transversal. Salivary quality and quantity are one of the fundamental factors to maintain a good oral health, since salivary flow and pH decrease is related to an increased risk of carious or non-carious lesions. This is why professional swimmers, being in close contact with pool water and performing long periods of underwater exercise, may present alterations in salivary pH values. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine salivary pH variations of professional swimmers before, during and after their training. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The sample was taken from the 39 professional swimmers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The salivary pH was measured at the beginning of training, then at the time of entering the pool and at the end of training (two hours after starting training). Results: Salivary pH before training of swimmers has the highest value with a mean of 6.2564, and then one hour of training is low to an average of 5.5641, later at 2 hours after training to climb to 5.9872. Conclusion: Salivary pH drops at the time of training, and then descends to training time, after two hours of training, the pH rises but it is not restored as at the beginning of training.
