Resumen : El presente artículo tiene como objetivo realizar una aproximación a una teoría integracionista de la negociación...
Descripción : The objective of the following article is to make an approach to the integration theory of negotiation. Furthermore, it seeks the explanation of its contribution through the analysis of a case to prove if the elements of this theory are present in the negotiation process and if the process can be explained. The selected case is the Colombian peace process, because of its contemporary nature and the completeness of its negotiation process (from pre-negotiation to the agreements outcomes). This academic paper uses the integration theory of negotiation as a base to establish the elements that are part of its process. The elements are defined and developed in the theoretical framework. After the analysis of each one of the eight elements that conform the integration theory of negotiation in the Colombian government and peace process of FARC, it is determined that the integrationist approach has the most beneficial resolution for each part of the conflict. The reason is that this approach seeks symmetrical relationships that not only solve the conflict, but also makes the most of it for both parts. As the result of this, the parts can maximize their interests due to an interaction based on the power of positive negotiation and principle-based models. It is then confirmed the capacity of this theoretical model for explaining the elements that develop during a negotiation and its ability to predict their outcomes based on the analysis of the ways the elements unfold during this process. These elements have characteristics or stages that must be fulfilled for them to guarantee a positive development in the negotiation process to reach a final agreement. To conclude, the article discusses the limit of the integration theory of negotiation. It states that there is not a proper margin to analyze impromptu political topics that may affect the negotiation.
