| Descripción : | This work focuses on answering the question: are there grounds to believe that the CIA has been active in Ecuador during administration of Rafael Correa as a way to break his leftist government? To answer this question, it is intended to use the past (60s and 80s) as a determinant of the methods used by the CIA focusing on the reasons why the CIA decided to influence Ecuadorian politics during those decades to establish connections with the present. The investigation will then focus on two particular presidential periods: the one of Carlos Julio Arosemena Monroy and the one of Jaime Roldós Aguilera. These two periods will be analyzed in terms of the context of the country along with the personalities of the leaders to be compared with the regime of Rafael Correa, and in this way it will be concluded with the results obtained that the infiltration of the CIA in Ecuadorian politics is effectively possible since reasons have been found that explain why the Agency would seek to influence it to align it with US interests. |
