Knowledge of the normal hematological values of Indian peafowl (Pavo cristatus) is certainly of great help in guiding the health status of a farm in general. This study was based on the determination of these values, and as a pilot study to be able to reference parameters within normal. The investigation was performed with 14 animals, nine females and five males, the blood sample was taken from the ulnar cutaneous vein. Samples were collected in tubes with anticoagulant for the blood count, while a small amount of blood was used to perform the extended blood. The hematological values were Hematocrit, hemoglobin, total protein, total erythrocyte count, total leukocyte count, differential leukocyte count, MCV (mean corpuscular volume), HCM (mean corpuscular hemoglobin) and MCHC (mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration). For the analysis of results were used references of other species of birds close to the animals under study. The first comparison was made between males and females having the following results: monocytes, erythrocyte count, mean corpuscular volume and hemoglobin concentration were higher in females, meanwhile hematocrit, plasma proteins, hemoglobin, leukocyte count, eosinophils, basophils, heterophils, thrombocytes and mean corpuscular hemoglobin were higher in males. The only similar results were lymphocytes. By means of statistical analysis of the Mann Whitney test, blood parameters that had significant differences between males and females were hematocrit (w = 56,0; p = 0.0164), hemoglobin (w = 53,0; P = 0.0420), heterophils (w = 15,0., p= 0,0325). The results evidenced in this research may serve as a basis for new studies on diseases that affect Indian peafowl, since it is possible to take as a reference the hematological parameters obtained from these birds with healthy conditions. In addition to being able to follow the model of handling them.en
