Resumen : El presente trabajo plantea una alternativa de diseño interiorista en un espacio inusual convirtiéndolo en un lugar atractivo y funcional, como es el de un hotel Monumento que sería intervenido en una edificación que forma parte del Centro Histórico de Quito, considerado como Patrimonio de la Humanidad; se trata del Monasterio del Carmen Bajo, construido en el año de 1669. Un hotel Monumento es el tipo de hotel que permite rescatar la riqueza cultural que guardan las edificaciones históricas como conventos, castillos, iglesias y palacios, cuya característica fundamental es darle vida útil al inmueble y a la vez asegurar su permanencia en el futuro, proponiendo un cambio de uso. El Monasterio del Carmen Bajo está ubicado a las puertas del Centro Histórico de Quito y vendría a ser un referente valioso del mismo que forma parte de la historia de la ciudad, y que guarda varios capítulos de su vida. El objetivo principal de esta propuesta es planear un proyecto interiorista que genere mayor interés y atractivo a la edificación, con carácter patrimonial, rescatando su arquitectura y su valor cultural e histórico.
Descripción : This work sets out an interior design alternative in an unusual space making it an appealing and functional place. The Monastery of Carmen Bajo, built in 1669 would be taken into a Monument Hotel; an edification that is still is a part of the Historic Center of Quito city, considered as Human Patrimony. A Monument Hotel is a lodging establishment that allows to rescue the cultural richness within historical constructions such as convents, castles, churches, palaces, etc., which its fundamental characteristic is to bring to use the structure and at the same time assure its permanence in the future with a change of use. The Monastery of Carmen Bajo is located at the gates of the historic Center of Quito city and it is a valuable reference for the history of Quito since it is a Keeper of the citys life. The main objective of this proposal is to set out an interior design project that generates more interest and appealing to the patrimonial building, rescuing its architecture and cultural and history value.
