| Descripción : | Objective: Check the influence of dental loss on the quality of life in patients who attended to the Dental Clinic of the University of the Americas. Methods: The sample consisted by 158 patients with ages between 18 to 80 years, who were attended to the Dental Clinic in October 2016. Edentulism was recorded through the history clinic of the patients and the quality of life with the OHIP-14 quiz, which consists of five dimensions. Results: In the sample, it was verified that 105 of the patients surveyed are female, the 86 percent of the respondents were partial edentulous. In the quality of life, the 93 percent had a low impact; the OHIP-14 showed that the major problems reported by patients who lost their teeth were related with psychological aspects, such as the concern with problems related with their mouth and shame about dental loss. |
