OBJECTIVE: Analyze the effectiveness of activation transversus abdominis in controlling lumbar instability in multiparous women. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Eighteen female patients (mean age 43.6 years) were divided randomly into two groups. GE patients were subjected to a progressive program of training abdominal muscles deep, using abdominal bracing technique for 8 weeks. The two groups were assessed at the beginning and end by 1) the numerical scale of pain, 2) activation of the transversus abdominis by StabilizerTM or Biofeedback pressure, and 3) the lumbar instability through the test of passive lumbar extension. RESULTS: At the end of treatment it was found that activation of the transversus abdominis by abdominal bracing technique was effective in reducing the lumbar instability in multiparous women. So significant differences in the activation of transversus abdominis were found and the numerical pain scale, comparing the two groups that participated in the study. CONCLUSIONES: Activation of the transversus abdominis by abdominal bracing technique is effective in reducing the lumbar instability in multiparous women. In addition, activation of the transversus abdominis decreases low back pain.en
