Resumen : Actualmente en la ciudad de Ibarra, se producen alrededor de 46.800 t, año de desechos sólidos orgánicos procedentes de domicilios, camales, industrias, entre otras, lo que constituye un serio problema de salubridad para la colectividad...
Descripción : The city of Ibarra produces approximately 46.800 ton/year of organic waste, coming from homes, slaughterhouses and industries amongst others. This constitutes a major health hazard for the city. For this reason, during this research, we optimized the organic residues coming from the municipal slaughterhouses of Ibarra, by turning them into compost, by using different quantities of microorganisms and their respective repetitions. Utilizing for this purpose: bacteria with a concentration of 1011 CFU/L (25 mL, 50 mL, 75 mL), and fungus in the concentration of 1011 CFU/L (25 mL, 50 mL, 75 mL) and fungus plus bacteria in the concentrations of 1011 CFU/L (8 mL fungus, 17 mL bacteria, 12,5 mL fungus, 12,5 mL bacteria and 8 mL de bacteria, 17 mL fungus), aside of a control. At the end of the research and after a physic– chemical characterization and a thorough statistical analysis, it was determined that the optimal treatment was made with the combination of bacteria plus fungus, with a composition of 8 mL of fungus, 17 mL of bacteria and 300 mL of molasses diluted in 10 liters of water. The resulting compost of such treatment presented an average temperature of 38,45 °C, a carbon/nitrogen relation of 14,80 and a percentage of organic matter of 41,10 % which demonstrate that the symbiosis generated amongst the microorganisms reduces the time of compost production from 170 to 120 days.
