| dc.description | Open data is the result of the cooperation between institutions and individuals that have published information to encourage researchers, developers and entrepreneurs to use and re-distribute the data. However, not every type of information is available in a open data format and that is the case with public transportation information in Quito, specifically about stops and routes. This work will enable volunteers to generate and expose data about stops and routes in Quito. The result that this work proposes is an MVP (minimum viable product) that will allow evaluate the proper behaviour of the components of the platform. This product was developed using agile practices such as TDD (Test driven development), continuous integration and continuous delivery. Also, the development was supported by modern technologies like Python 3.4, CouchDB, ES2015 and Docker. To generate the data, a responsive web interface was created that can be accesed through any browser in a smartphone (http://quitoabierto.org/). A map of the area and the volunteer's current location can be seen from this interface so the data gathering could be done easily. The public API was specifically created so that developers can have access to the data generated through the platform and take advantage of it.
