| Descripción : | This study aimed to compare macroscopically, the use of three methods for closing surgical wounds post ovariohysterectomy (nylon sutures, cyanoacrylate and bands iodophor). In research they involved 30 clinically healthy cats (n = 30), which were divided into 3 groups of 10 patients each, where each group was applied a different method of surgical closure. Similarly individual time application of methods and their cost was assessed. For monitoring the progress of the wound, the 30 cats were kept in a controlled environment for 15 days. Dehiscence, secretion, erythema, mild swelling, localized in the wound infection, bruising and loss of peripheral suture material: time in which three postsurgical wound checks, where parameters were evaluated as performed. For the statistical analysis of the study logistic regression and ANOVA and Duncan test it was applied. Data analysis showed that there is no statistically significant difference between the use of different methods and wound healing. But a significant difference in time is observed in the application time of nonconventional methods over using nylon suture (P <0.0001). With the result that the faster wound closure method is the cyanoacrylate (0.17 min), followed by iodophor bands (1.56min), and finally the nylon suture (2.6 min). As for the economic analysis it concluded that the cost of the suture is four times cheaper than surgical glue, while iodophor bands double in price nylon suture. |
