Nutritional disorders worldwide have had a large increase in recent years, which is very worrying for the problems and consequences that they can cause short and or long term diabetes, cardiac disorders and joint, emotional disorders, low self-esteem and alterations in the oral cavity. In Ecuador the overweight has been showed an increase and obesity in 4 percent in the last 26 years. Not so much as well with malnutrition. The (BMI) body mass index is the relation of the height of an individual with his her weight, this shows in which state of malnutrition is the person: normal, overweight or obesity, depending on gender and age. The aim of this study is to see the relationship between BMI and the DMFs in children 4 to 6 years, which were used for indices referred above, taking into account the weight and size of each infant and the state of their teeth to know if there is an influence of nutritional status with the oral health. As a result we find that the biggest problem of nutrition in evaluated 85 children were overweight by 20 percent and obesity with 35,3 percent a total of 55,3 percent; with the absence of children in a state of malnutrition and the remaining 44,7 percent of children in normal ranges. The mean DMFs index was 4.1, being higher in men that in women; the relationship that was observed with overweight or obesity DMFs index was not significant, also with decayed teeth; but it was identified significance in extracted teeth because it increased in children with overweight and obese compared to those who have a normal BMI; about filled teeth was observed that it was higher in children with normal and reduced BMI in overweight and obese children. The teeth that are identified with higher prevalence of caries are: 51 and 85; higher prevalence to extraction the 51 and the higher prevalence of tooth fillings the 55, without observing a different trend when comparing by gender or age.en
