dc.descriptionAnxiety often occurs during the dental office, it is important to know that anxiety can go in levels of mild, moderate, severe, elevated, occurs at all ages, and goes hand in hand with past experiences, comments third party on treatment and dentist; care for children in the dental office is pleasant, various techniques are used within these is the distraction and here is what music therapy is a useful tool to reduce anxiety. The aim of this study is to verify the effectiveness of music therapy as a tool to reduce anxiety in children aged 5-13 years treated at the clinic of the University of the Americas. The study was carried out in 45 children as of 5 to 13 who came to the center of Dental care, which were divided into three groups: a group music therapy with headphones, a group with headphones without music and the control group without headphones without music, all were made on test anxiety of Corah, an observational test eye and motor skills, taking vital signs was performed as they are, heart rate and oxygen saturation in order to measure the decrease in anxiety. The results obtained in the test of Corah observational no statistically significant difference was found, whereas in heart rate we found a significant difference (p less than 0.05) during shooting pulsations which showed that music therapy influences the same, also in the oxygen saturation in the blood but statistically significant only in the last shot (p less than 0.05) difference was observed. Conclusion: Music therapy is effective in reducing anxiety, can be implemented in the clinic of the University of the Americas and at other locations for its low cost and easy accessibility.en
