Resumen : Un estudio realizado por la Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición en Ecuador (ENSANUT-ECU) sobre la deficiencia de micronutrientes en menores de 5 años, evidencia que a nivel nacional el 28,8por ciento de preescolares presentan deficiencia de zinc, también menciona que existen campañas de suplementación con micronutrientes en polvo específicamente de hierro y zinc para este grupo de edad y mujeres en edad fértil, pero no se ha evaluado la deficiencia de micronutrientes en niños en edad escolar...
Descripción : A study by the national survey of health and nutrition in Ecuador (ENSANUTECU) on deficiency of micronutrients in children under 5 years, evidence that 28.8% of preschools nationally deficient zinc, also mentions that there are campaigns supplementation with micronutrient powder specifically iron and zinc for this age group and women of fertile age, but schoolchildren micronutrient deficiency has not been evaluated. For this reason analyzed is changes in the level of zinc in school children through an experimental study, randomized, double-blind, prospective, longitudinal six months with their respective follow-up, in a mixed fiscal school located in a marginal urban area of the city of Quito, where 328 children from 6 to 10 years of age participated which received zinc, iron and vitamin A-fortified milk of cow and milk of cow. With the supplementation of zinc and the others micronutrients is showed a significant increase of them values serum of zinc, especially in children that presented deficiency (from the 14% only the 5% of children continue with deficiency, group to which is supplement with milk of cow; of the 13% only the 4% of children continue with deficiency, group to which is supplement with milk of cow fortified with micronutrients) also showed that milk of cow is an excellent food that must be present in the diet of school-age children.
