Resumen : Los factores de crecimiento son proteínas especializadas derivadas de las plaquetas, obtenidas de la sangre circulante de cada individuo...
Descripción : Growth factors are specialized proteins derived from platelets obtained from the circulating blood of each animal. Actually, those are used in different surgical, and non-surgical pathologies, it is also used in human and veterinary medicine. There have been some studies that prove these facts, these proteins are able to stimulate chondrogenic proliferation and cartilage regeneration, causing as result immediate analgesia after application. The objective of this study it is evaluate clinically the application of plasma rich in growth factors in hip dysplasia canine with grade II and III. In total, the application intra-articulary of injections was analyzed in eleven dogs treated in Veterinary Hospital called “Dogtors Cat”. A physical and orthopedic examination was performed to evaluate the functionality of the joints by Bioarth scale, hip radiograph ventrodorsal view was taken under sedation with the consent of the owners and the degree of hip dysplasia of each animal was determined by the angle of Norberg and radiological signs. After this, the scores of chronic pain was determined by Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before and after of each session, the plasma rich in growth factors were obtain of the blood of each animal. The treatment consisted to apply three intraarticular injections in the hip joint with an interval of two weeks. In addition, the Melbourne and Glassglow scale was used after each session too, which study demonstrated that chronic pain was decreasing progressively in fifty eighth percent from the first to the last intraarticular injection. In conclusion, the use of plasma rich in growth factors is an effective alternative treatment to control the chronic pain for hip dysplasia grade II and III, improving considerably the quality of life.
