Descripción : The purpose of this descriptive study is to perform macroscopical and microscopical evaluations in 23 canine colon, among one and five years, who arrived to Clínica Veterinaria de Protección Animal Ecuador. The clinical examination was performed, and they were without solids and liquid for 24 hours. Dogs with fecal material need one or more enemas. The equipment was a flexible video endoscope: Videopath Welchallyn Vlx-100. The mucosa was evaluated and 4 – 5 samples were taken to be analyzed. The results showed that the 60,86% (n=14/23) of the dogs were mongrel dogs and 39,13% (n=9/23) were purebred dogs. The 69,56% (n=16/23) of dogs were females and 30,43% (n=7/23) were males. Macroscopically endoscopic findings included the 95,65% (n=22/23) in which there were not changes in mucosa, and one case 4,35% (n=1/23) in which mucosa was inflamed and friable. Microscopically the results showed that the 30,43 % (n=7/23) has a mild crypt hyperplasia, the 34,78% (n=8/23) had dilatation and light distortion of crypts. The 56,52% (n=13/23) had mild fibrosis and atrophy and the 13,04% (n=3/23) had moderate, the 39,13% (n=9/23) had a slight amount of lymphocytes and plasma cells in lamina propria and the 4,35% (n=1/23) of dogs had moderate amount, only the 4,35% (n=1/23) had mild increase of eosinophil, being a eosinophilic colitis. There were no changes in neutrophils and acrophages amount. As a conclusion, the exam results showed that 52,17% (n=12/23) dogs had a mild focal lymphoplasmocytic colitis, being the most affected dogs of one year 17,49% (n=4/7) and two years old13,05% (n=3/6).
