The Immune-mediated Chronic Superficial keratitis (CSK) is a bilateral inflammation of the cornea and its etiology is unknown; however, it has an immunological origin, it is influenced by ultraviolet radiation and it has a high breed component. The aim of this study was to analyze two therapeutic treatments in dogs with CSK, the control group was based on the use of Corticosteroid (triamcinolone acetonide) plus Cyclosporine A 1%, and the experimental group was based on Corticotherapy plus Tacrolimus (Tacroz®) 0.03%. In total 47 dogs started the study, all of them were diagnosed with CSK by applying the complete ophthalmological examination at the Dogtor's Cat Veterinary Clinic in Quito; 7 patients dropped and 40 remaining until the end. Two equal groups were formed and each patient was monitored for a period of 75 days after starting treatment. The 50% of patients in the study were German Shepherd breed, 20% were mixed breed with a base phenotypic of German Shepherd, and the remaining 30% were other breed; the higher age frequency was between 3 to 5 years (45%). The results demonstrated a significant difference (Chi 2 = 13.53> 7.81) between two treatments, patients undergoing the experimental group showed a better response. In addition, the results showed that there is no significant difference in the presentation of this pathology in a particular eye (Chi2 = 3.15 <7.81). In conclusion, this study showed that Tacrolimus (Tacroz®) 0.03% as initial therapy reduces clinical signs in patients with CSK and represents a lower price alternative in relation to the conventional therapy based Cyclosporine A 1%.en
