dc.descriptionToday osteo muscle disorders top the list of occupational diseases that increase their numbers each year; among them, there was found Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) that is a disorder derivative from a nerve compression, that has as main risk factors, several manual actions that the dentists performance in all theirs common functions. This research was performed on 101 dentists belonging to: Universidad de las the Américas, Club de Leones Quito and Hospital Eugenio Espejo, these dentists were evaluated through a survey created virtual form of Google, where the presence of suggestive symptoms identified carpal tunnel syndrome. Estimated if there was predisposition in relation to dentist gender, getting a greater involvement of women affected, there also was projected if there was predisposition in relation to the dominant hand of the dentist, where it was confirmed that it was the first to be affected; and was expected to found a greater number of years of professional practice, more hours of work per week and more patients who attend a day that increase the tendency to develop symptoms, giving all these factors a frank susceptibility. There was also evaluated which specialty presents the most affected group; being general dentists, surgeons and endodontists the most affected. At the end it was valued the result of the relationship of the symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome with normal performance of the dentists job, where it could clarify that there appear the lost of strength and the working time was extended in high percentage of cases identified; and preventive methods were exposed to avoid developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.en
