This study aimed to evaluate the anthelmintic efficacy of fenbendazole against gastrointestinal nematodes in sheep. The research was developed at "Gualilagua" farm, located at Mejia canton, Pichincha province. To evaluate the efficacy of fenbendazole, stool examinations were performed using the McMaster flotation technique. Twenty two lambs naturally infected with gastrointestinal nematodes were used, all of them with more than 150 eggs per gram of feces and that have not been treated with anthelmintic for at least 90 days before the study began. Fenbendazole was administered to each sheep, the manufacturing laboratory dosage was calculated according to the weight of each lamb; before anthelmintic treatment a sample was collect at day 0; after the treatment, stool samples were collected at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days, they were processed with McMaster technique to count the number of eggs per gram of feces (EPG). With the number of eggs per gram of feces, anthelmintic efficacy was determined and processed using the t-Student statistical test to conclude if treatment generates a change in elements exposed to it. The genus identified were: Trichuris spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Haemonchus spp. and Trichostrongylus spp. The investigation evidenced an anthelmintic efficacy against Trichuris spp. and Oesophagostomum spp. An anthelmintic efficacy was not demonstrated against genus Haemonchus spp. and Trichostrongylus spp. The earliest re-infestation was exposed for Trichuris spp. genus at 28 days.en
