dc.descriptionThis thesis involves the development of a business plan done with the objective of determining the commercial viability and financial profitability of an innovative company that, by providing mobile food services, personalized carts with treats and entertainment, offers differentiation and status to events in the city of Quito. “Treats on Wheels” offers three personalized packages of candy, sweets, and healthy products. Each cart is complemented with an entertainment service that brings differentiation and prominence to social activities. The company is classified with the lodging and food services sector. This sector has many companies that offer similar services or substitute products. However, the combination of a food service with personalized detailing and with entertainment represents therefore a strong value proposition and a market opportunity. Through a qualitative and quantitative analysis, the target market was determined. The target market’s characteristics, wants and needs were analyzed, as well as potential competition and substitute products for the business being contemplated. Furthermore, the market research that was conducted resulted in a 79% acceptance ratio of the business idea, from which it can be inferred that the business is commercially viable. The business’ main marketing strategy is differentiation, as its value proposition is focused on an exclusive service with distinctive qualities. The principal distribution channel will be direct selling, with personalized attention to assure client satisfaction. Initially, the management team will consist of five people. The initial investment is of $40,500.00 U.S. dollars, of which 60% will be shareholders’ equity and 40% will be financed via a bank loan. A financial analysis was completed taking into account all the specific variables of the contemplated business and three financial (expected, pessimist, and optimist) were evaluated. The viability and profitability of the project, under the expected scenario, was demonstrated to result in a net present value of $17,015.93 U.S. dollars and an internal rate of return of 9,5%. The payback period of the investment is four years.en
