Descripción : Qualitative study with a retrospective approach, a transversal type and an exploratory-descriptive scope is presented; the information was processed by content analysis using as a base the Structural Family Model, branch of the systemic family therapy. The research used intentional sample type by criteria, which consisted of six people that were contacted by the snowball technique. The objective of the study is to analyze how the structure of the birth family was, from the perception of women that were adolescent mothers. Boundaries, hierarchies and coalitions were explored; the investigation included the analysis of risk and protection factors in the families of the women that were part of the sample. The study concludes that in these families prevails physical or emotional absence of the father, diffuse boundaries, and the coexistence of symmetrical escalation on the family interaction. High consumption of alcohol and drugs in the family members and the lack or inadequate use of contraceptive methods, appear as predominant risk factors. The investigation identifies a high presence of risk factors and a low incidence of protection factors. Before pregnancy, women who participate in the research, crossed through important crises that modified the family interaction. It is conclude that the paternal absence along with distant and conflictual interaction of the family members represent patterns in the nucleus of the women that were part of the study.
