dc.descriptionThe oil industry in Ecuador is one of the most important issues for any government. Until today, oil wells have been concentrated in the provinces of Northern Amazonia, where it has been possible to see many socio-enviromental conflicts. A longstanding struggle by indigenous organizations allowed principles of plurinationality, interculturality, "Buen Vivir" and the Rights of Nature to be added to the Constitution, giving full importance to international human rights instruments. In 2012, government of Ecuador decided to develop the XI Oil Round, which expands the oil frontier towards the provinces of Pastaza, Morona Santiago and Napo (South West) working towards energy of Ecuador sovereignty and meeting the basic needs of indigenous peoples living in that area, regardless of the different manifestations of these nationalities. Based on these facts and the principles mentioned above, the objective of this research is to diagnose the socio-political and socio-environmental conflict that was generated from the oil round process that includes consulting indigenous nationalities and the support of extractive industry could produce different consecuences in the country.
