| Descripción : | Previous scientific publications have shown that the consumption of Lupinus reduces levels of blood glucose in people with type 2 diabetes. The conglutin- gamma protein has been identified as one of the possible active ingredients in Lupinus responsible for the decrease of blood glucose due to its enzymatic functions. The objective of this research was to determine the presence of conglutin-gamma and to measure its gene expression in three Andean varieties of Lupinus mutabilis (“chocho”). In order to determine the presence of the gene in Lupinus mutabilis a PCR was performed and subsequently sequenced using the Sanger sequencing method employing big dye terminator. The presence of conglutin-gamma gene was shown in the three varieties of L. mutabilis studied.
