dc.descriptionThis work aims to establish the frequency of the position of the third molars in patients undergoing surgery in the operating room of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of the Americas, which will determine the characteristics of position of third molars by gender of the patient and the position of the third molars by age as the patient. The sample consisted of 71 patients 15 to 30 years (38 women and 33 men) for that valued the inclusion criteria considering the panoramic radiographic shots and are patients who had third molar or erupted, the type of study is prospective descriptive for the analysis record data collection which consists of number of clinical history, age, sex, position of the tooth, class and type of patients treated in the Faculty of Dentistry, University of were used Americas during the period April-June 2014. The results of the field investigation, by applying the data-collection according to Pell and Gregory and Winter, according to the ratio obtained with Maxillary Sinus predominantly Class I 100% at location 18 96% position 28, position 48 to 50% and class II position with 45% 48 and 48% with 38.Siendo position Vertical position in the most common with 90% at location 18; 91% in the location 28 and 42% in the location 48; mesionagular in position also has its prevalence with 48% at position 38 and 40% at position 48. Type A with 58% position 18, 61% and 48% position 28 to position 48; Type B with 27 48% position, and the position C; 35% position 18 and position 29% 28.The results show that the most common depth for third molars class I is upright and type agenesis is common for the upper and lower third molars.en
