Descripción : The main objective of this investigative work is to conduct a study on Bioenergetics Psychotherapy as a psychotherapeutic method that studies personality and works with the body and the mind based on bioenergetics processes. Bioenergetics Psychotherapy as an examination of thought, feelings and emotions, uses; verbal therapy, interpretation, a conscious reflection, and the acceptance of feelings to aid individuals acquire a consciousness about themselves; as well as Body Therapy as a mean to access the unconscious mind. In this investigation the focus is qualitative with a cross cut design of the descriptive type. The issue to be investigated will be defined as well as the question of investigation and the objectives. In addition, the population will be determined for the practical assignment as well as the methodologies and tools used; and finally, a data analysis, results, and conclusion will also be presented. The objectives are to conduct a research on the Bioenergetics Analysis and its techniques to release muscular tension caused by painful emotional experiences; also, to analyze how emotions affect the body and identify the different structures of bioenergetic personalities among others. The first part of this investigative work includes a theoretical report; a summary about the Bioenergetic Analysis, its focus, and its main/fundamental goal; it also includes, the writings of Wilhelm Reich, Austrian psychiatrist, father of the body therapies and the first one to develop Bioenergetics, as well as of Alexander Lowen, an American psychiatrist, the creator of the bioenergetics analysis and a pioneer in developing this perspective worldwide. The second part includes a therapeutic assignment who involved a group of patients of a Rehabilitation Center in the city of Quito, who did not necessarily show relevant neurotic or clinical imbalances, but who took part of the process due to their high level of chronic muscular tension or muscle contracture. Also, inclusion and exclusion criteria were taken into account, as well as a proposal for a Bioenergetics exercise program to treat muscular tension issues within the proper environment that encompasses tutorial and professional therapeutic support was also added. Relevant data and information for the analysis were gathered using the clinical interviewing process and the exploration of each patients personal history. The patients posture and body tension as well as their level of energy were studied to identify the structure of their nature/character or their Bioenergetic personality. After the information gathered was processed, a data analysis report was run. The teamwork achieved through the Bioenergetic Exercise Program assisted with the observation and analysis of the group of patients. The efficiency of the Bioenergetics Analysis was estimated by analyzing the results and the testimonies of the participants before and after the therapy. The benefit was also observed by a noticeable decrease in the contracture of the muscles and a higher body motility of the patients. It was concluded that the interventions based on the psychotherapeutical techniques of the Bioenergetic analysis are effective on patients who present these problems.
