| dc.description | "The Construction and Representation of hybrid art as an Expression of Identity in the Paintings of Nelson Román” is an investigation from the perspective of cultural journalism. This study has three objectives: 1. To identify the aspects of "hybrid art" in Ecuador and its relation to Ecuadorian “mestizo” identity; 2. To determine the elements that fuel the "hybrid art" in its construction and pictorial representation; 3. To analyze the work of the Ecuadorian artist, Nelson Román, as an exemplar of "hybrid art" as well as an example of Ecuadorian cultural identity. This is a journalistic investigation with a qualitative approach. It is exploratory in scope, and employs passive observation, such as a gallery-workshop on “El ojo del jaguar”, and the “Nelson Román o El Arte Perpetuo” display, exhibited in the “Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana”. Further exploratory investigation includes: meeting with the craftspeople in the province of Cotopaxi, depth interviews with the artist subject of this study, various artists, art critics, cultural historians and sociologists. | dc.description.abstract | La construcción y representación del arte mestizo como expresión de identidad en la obra pictórica de Nelson Román" es una investigación que se enmarca en el campo del periodismo cultural. Los objetivos planteados son los siguientes: identificar las vertientes del "arte mestizo" en el Ecuador y su relación con la identidad; determinar los elementos de los que se nutre el "arte mestizo" para su construcción y representación pictórica; analizar la obra de Nelson Román como expresión del "arte mestizo" y su seña de identidad cultural. Se trata de una investigación periodística con enfoque cualitativo, de alcance exploratorio, cuyos instrumentos de trabajo son la observación pasiva (galería taller El ojo del jaguar, Exposición "Nelson Román o El Arte Perpetuo" realizada en la Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana, visitas a los artesanos de la provincia de Cotopaxi); entrevistas a profundidad al artista sujeto del estudio, artistas plásticos, críticos de arte, historiadores culturales y sociólogos; análisis de los cuadros más representativos de la obra de Nelson Román; y fuentes bibliográficas: libros, revistas y diccionarios especializados, portales en internet… | es_ES |
