Resumen : El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo destacar la funcionalidad de las caricaturas políticas, las cuales han demostrado ser una herramienta útil para captar la atención del espectador...
Descripción : This coursework is based on the main objective. This is to show off the functionality of political cartoons, which can be considerate as a very useful tool in order to catch the viewer is attention. The cartoons main role is focused on using those cartoons as visual images linked to a message related to news or documentary, where it will allow readers to get involved in the national and international overview. The use of Semiotic tools have contributed to understand the inherent and unequivocal of the message and the deeply analyse of visual factors. Those tools allow finding out the meaning of each drawing made by cartoonists. Therefore the direct connection between visual image and visual speech will take place. The selections of two print medias were taken in consideration to delineate the cartoon is illustrations: One of them was The Comercio newspaper (Mountain County – conservative position) and the second one was The Universo newspaper (Coast County – freedom position). A briefly comparison of the journalist development was made among these two medias, where the main intention was to find out the diversity of each ideology, involving the fact that both of those belong to two different cities, which were: Quito and Guayaquil with a higher political intervention. The main theme which was chosen to be analysed was based on the image of the Economist Rafael Correa, who is the Ecuadorian President because this government brought an impact into the country. The Political Party Citizen Revolution has stayed in power for the past four years despite unstable political issues have taken place for about ten years. In this period of governance an important and strong support from the population to their president was made, however a tough opposition from media, shadow cabinets and office workers can be perceived. A high percentage of political cartoons, which have been analysed, showed a misunderstanding of the message by using apparent methods on the graphic opinion reading. Ecuador has got a fewer exponents committed to this activity, even when the cartoon is acceptance is well received. Therefore the idea to propose and design a first booklet for Communication students, who are interested to learn and develop such art and spotlight on the tools, practices, evaluations and the productive reviewers that the University is providing, plus basing it on relevant information and becoming the whole result in a high quality graphic opinion.
