Descripción : This business plan aims to analyze the operational, commercial and financial viability to create the CHEMRUB Company, a laboratory for the production and sales of veterinary drugs in the city of Quito. This idea originated from the business relationship between INPEL Company and Doctor Fernando Rubio, who advised the elaboration of several of INPELs products. This laboratory will be established as a Limited Company; it will be associated with INPEL, which is currently selling and manufacturing these products in different outsourced laboratories. A study of the veterinary pharmaceutical industry was conducted; analyzing political, economic, social, technological and regulatory aspects, as well as the study of the Porters five forces model (1979). The obtained results show that this industry has an approximate constant growth rate of 8,8%. That makes it an attractive option for investment; meanwhile the prices of these products have shown a 15% growth since last year. The market research shows that, from the total amount of companies which elaborate these products, in an outsourced company or those who import them, 33% of them would like to produce and sell nationally made veterinary drugs. This would be possible if these products had a comparable quality, to those made internationally, and additionally have a price advantage. This research also shows that the highest selling products are those directed to livestock, since from the total supply of veterinary products in the industry, 70% are used in cows, pigs and birds, whose population in the country sums up to more than 8 million heads (Ruiz, Patricio, 2008). With the technical research, the general flows and production procedures have been determined following the Good Manufacturing Practices. Under these guidelines the design of the production plant and the filling, labelling and storing areas have also been determined. CHEMRUBs market entry strategy will be achieved by offering lower prices and higher quality. To achieve this tactic, the production plant will be more than adequate with high tech equipment and qualified personnel. The marketing plan includes a launch event to unveil not only the companys products but also the quality of its manufacturing processes and infrastructure, that supports the excellence of the enterprise; exhibitions and industry events are also included. The financial analysis shows positive results in the six analyzed scenarios. In a normal scenario with leverage the NPV is equal to 75 328, 83 USD and a ROI of 35%, which represents a great business opportunity. The budget for the initial outlay equals 243 244, 55 USD, 40% of this amount will be financed through bank credit and the 60% by self-financing. The results of this research show that the proposed business is feasible.
