Descripción : Objective To apply an orthodontic treatment (Damon System) to stabilize a patient with joint parafunction. Introduction The Damon System as a treatment is effective, less invasive, allowing the orthodontic specialist dentist an adequate biomechanical process with a considerable reduction in treatment time; patients with temporomandibular dysfunction have an additional complexity component, for this reason differential diagnoses are required to facilitate their prognosis. Materials and Methods clinical case of a patient with premature loss of lower first molars, which generated premature deflection in the temporomandibular joints bilaterally. Diagnostic tools such as photos, models, cephalometries, differential diagnosis of temporomandibular disorders (Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders Axis II) are considered. Treatment with the Damon system is recommended to regain optimal functional occlusion in a period of approximately 2 years after referral to Oral Rehabilitation. Results verticalization of second molars, maximum optimal intercuspation, appropriate overjet and overbite, control of pain in the temporomandibular joint.
