Descripción : Sea containers were designed to provide ease when transported and stacked together. Once their useful life is completed, they are discarded and forgotten in the different port cities without considering their great potential in the construction area due to their modular capacity. This work aims to determine if this type of construction is profitable. To achieve this, a logical sequence is followed; the history of the containers, their parts and the material that make them up. By comparing the structural and economic analysis of a home built from containers with another built with conventional method, demonstrate the viability of it. As the work unfolds, it is demonstrated how the alternative has important advantages with respect to the conventional construction method such, as being more economical, having a shorter construction time, great versatility in architectural design due to its modulation capacity and his undeniable respect for the environment. The comparison of the budgets between both houses is a valid resource to demonstrate that the proposal is more economical. On the other hand, through their work execution schedules it is possible to verify their construction time. With the aforementioned it can be considered that these building alternatives built with sea containers are a good friendly option to complement conventional constructions.
