Descripción : Introduction Renal failure within non-communicable diseases is one of those with the highest mortality and morbidity rate, this is defined as the loss of renal function in a progressive and irreversible way characterized by the presence of kidney lesions and a decrease in the rate glomerular filtration rate of less than 60 ml / min / 1.73 m2 for a period of more than three months and the degree of albuminuria, this has a prevalence of 10% worldwide according to the World Health Organization Objective: Document the information and existing data on the prevalence and geographic distribution of the disease in Ecuador Methodology: A descriptive retrospective and prevalence study was carried out in which articles on kidney disease in Ecuador were used, search engines such as Google Scholar, ClinicalKey, UptoDate, Scopus, PubMed Latindex, Liliacs, Imbiomed. In addition, the database of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC) was used from 2001 to 2018. Results: A total of 85,406 reported cases of CKD were obtained in Ecuador, of which 55.27 percent It represents the male population, it is also identical that the most affected region of the equator is the Coast with more than half of the reported cases; Guayas is the province with the most cases registered with 31639 cases and with a rate of 45.49 per 10,000. Conclusion: This is one of the first studies of the prevalence of CRI in Ecuador. The results of the data analysis show a higher prevalence of CKD in men, with the population greater than or equal to 65 years being the most affected in both men and women; Regarding the most affected ethnic group, it was the mestizo population, 71.40 percent (n = 28948).
