Descripción : The study was based on demonstrating the effects produced by a herbicide (1,1 dimethyl 4,4 bipyridyl dichloride) and an insecticide (Chlorpyrifos - Cypermethrin) in two native tree species of the city of Quito. Five treatments were used, two with insecticide in concentrations of 0.00276 g L and 0.00138 g L; two with herbicide in concentrations of 0.005 g L and 0.0025 g L and a combined treatment of the biocides in a concentration of 0.00139 g L of insecticide 0.0025 g L of herbicide. The growth of the seedlings, the percentage of loss of leaves and the size of the root were analyzed as quantitative results; on the other hand, qualitative results were obtained: quality of the leaves and the quality of the roots. The general results that were obtained were that both biocides produce important changes and affectations in both cholán (Tecoma stans) and myrtle (Luma apiculata) seedlings. The myrtle seedlings showed greater affectations, which is due to their growth characteristics. The combined treatment was the one that caused the greatest effect in the myrtle seedlings, having an average growth of 4.31 cm and a percentage of leaf loss of 95.2 percent during the time of the experimentation. The cholán seedlings that were subjected to T5 showed greater affectation with respect to development with a mean growth of 0.81 cm; In the measurements of percentage of leaf loss, T3 was the one that obtained a higher value with 78.7 percent.
