| Resumen : | La esterilización es una técnica quirúrgica que se realiza comúnmente a los pacientes caninos por varios motivos, una de ellas y la más importante en nuestro país, el control de la fauna urbana. En los últimos años, se ha empezado a relacionar la aparición de diversas enfermedades relacionadas a la esterilización, como el hipotiroidismo. Existen varios estudios donde mencionan a la esterilización como factor de riesgo para la presentación de esta endocrinopatía, comparando caninos hembras y machos esterilizados frente a los enteros, pero aún no se ha publicado un estudio específico sobre el tema. Este estudio tiene como objetivo identificar si existe o no una relación entre la esterilización y la presentación de hipotiroidismo a través de la selección de casos y controles de pacientes con y sin la presencia de esta enfermedad y comparar en que grupo es más alta la prevalencia de la esterilización. Obteniendo un total 200 sujetos de estudio divididos en 100 casos y 100 controles donde se pudo observar que no existe relación en cuanto a la esterilización y la presencia de hipotiroidismo, pero se pudo observar otras diferencias significativas en cuanto a variables como sexo, condición corporal, raza y signos clínicos. Se incentiva a poder realizar investigaciones sobre el tema incrementando el número de individuos y de igual forma las variables de estudio. |
| Descripción : | Sterilization is a surgical technique that is commonly performed on canine patients for various reasons, one of them and the most important in our country, the control of urban fauna. In recent years, the appearance of various diseases related to sterilization, such as hypothyroidism, has begun to be related. There are several studies that mention sterilization as a risk factor for the presentation of this endocrinopathy, comparing female and male canines sterilized versus whole canines, but a specific study on the subject has not yet been published. This study aims to identify whether or not there is a relationship between sterilization and the presentation of hypothyroidism through the selection of cases and controls of patients with and without the presence of this disease and compare in which group prevails sterilization. Obtaining a total of 200 studys subjects classifieds in 100 cases and 100 controls, where was observed that there is no relation regarding sterilization and the presence of hypothyroidism, but other significant differences were observed in terms of variables such as sex, body condition, breed and clinical signs. There is an incentive to carry out further research on the subject by increasing the number of individuals and in the same way the study variables. |
