Descripción : Echinococcosis is a zoonotic disease, with high rates of contagion, especially in rural areas, due to the lack of knowledge of people and few prevention measures by the competent authorities. Few studies have been carried out in private slaughter centers, this being the reason for carrying out this study. This investigation was carried out at the private slaughterhouse "Prolam" located in Jatumpungo Sangolquí. 519 pigs were inspected in 7 visits. Post mortem veterinary inspection was used as diagnostic methods, identifying cystic lesions with adventitial and laminar layers; determination of the fertility of the cysts using Diff quick staining to facilitate the observation of the protoscolexes of Equinococcus spp. The results obtained were 15 positive pigs with the presence of cystic lesions of which only 1 was fertile, in turn it was found that all positive cases belonged to young pigs and mostly pigs that came from Santo Domingo. Using inferential statistics with the Poisson distribution, the relationship between the variables was determined, showing that: between positive cases and origin (Ambato and Pintag), affected organ and infertility of the cysts, a significant difference was found (p less than 0.05), in relation to Age, no significant difference was found in both young and adult pigs (p less than 0.05). To complement the study, an analysis of gray information was carried out on the frequency of cases reported in Ecuador, focusing on the results obtained, finding a single published study, where the content of the cysts found was genotyped. The inferential statistical analysis to determine if there is a relationship between the positive cases and the place where the slaughter was carried out in the studies, showed a significant difference (p value less than 0.05).
