| Descripción : | The present text performs a study of the horror genre within cinema: its definition and narrative structure, along with a definition of suspense within film. This study aims to propose a narrative structure for an experimental horror short, using its usual elements and suspense. This takes shape as the fiction short Solo Escribe (Pacheco, M., 2020), whose structure will be studied to see how its narrative manages to combine terror with suspense. At the end of this analysis, it is evident that the script is structured based on the definition of Noel Carrolls discovery story, but that it also makes use of unusual elements such as temporal jumps and experimental setup that exist in films such as Lost Highway (Lynch, 1997), which makes it a different short to how a traditional horror short is expected to be structured. |
