| Descripción : | The migration crisis coming from the Northern Triangle of Central America (TNCA) is considered an unprecedented phenomenon. The exponential increase in migrants who decide to move north in family units and ‘caravans’ has been a challenge for transit countries, especially for the chosen country of destination, the United States. With a consolidated anti-migrant rhetoric and a deep commitment to limit migration, the United States government has carried out countless measures that restrict the entry of TNCA’s Central Americans in search of better opportunities to the United States. This essay explores the measures implemented by the Trump administration to address the migration phenomenon through the analysis of three external securitization criteria that demonstrate how the Trump administration built the Central American migration phenomenon as a threat to the State, demonstrating the existence of a securitization process towards migration. |
