Descripción : Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most common nerve disorder that nowadays is being experienced more frequently. The present research was carried out in 41 dentists belonging to the Odontological Center of Universidad de las Américas. The evaluation method in which the professors were submitted was carried out in rotating shifts without special preference. It was possible to demonstrate a higher percentage of symptoms in female population than in male population. The presence of pain or tingling in their hands wrists, either in their right or left hands or in the specific fingers: thumb or index, in his palmar area, was also assessed by the type of specialty of the teachers , resulting in a high percentage in the specialty of Endodontics, followed by Periodontics and finally Maxillofacial Surgery. It was possible to estimate which is the dominant hand and the same one that will be affected with the signs and symptoms of the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Being, in this research, the right hand the dominant one and in a low percentage the left hand and ambidextrous. It was also exposed the time that teachers have been practicing the profession of dentists and also the time of their specialty; Likewise, the number of patients who attend in a daily basis in order to identify the predominant factors in the STC. Finally, it was determined that the pain produced by the CTS is more frequent when the patient is in activity. The vast majority of teachers who have symptoms have not undergone any type of treatment and a low number has undergone treatment such as: splinting the wrist, medication and physiotherapy all in an equal percentage, while the surgical treatment did not present any percentage.
