The main aspee that harms the oral health of children is known as the biofilm or bacteria plaque. This is the accumulation that puts in risk the maintenance of proper oral hygiene and even more when it comes with bad habits related to lack of knowledge or resources. Childhood constitutes the most opportune age to instruct children about the behaviors that can direct them towards good hygiene; they are particularly receptive during this stage. The effective, easy, and economical way to reach children and teach them specific oral health behaviors is with educational programs al schools and with the collaboration of parents and authorities. Objective: Evaluate the effectiveness of brushing and the IHOS index of Unidad Educativa Baeza based on the evaluations that were performed to children between 2016 - 2019. Materials and Methods: The clinical records of 101 children were reviewed and the data from the IHOS and O´Leary indexes were recorded to establish a comparison between the values obtained in the different evaluations between genders and ages. Results: After having performed the respective analysis. 11 was determined that in both IHOS and O´Leary indexes there was no significan variation between the first and the last review performed on each child. In addition, it was established that there is no difference between genders and ages for either index. Conclusions: 11 was concluded that all children involved in the study did not show any improvement determining that gender and age will not always influence the hygiene quality of children directly. However, the influence of parents and educators will always play a key role in this regard.en
