Currently the use of ceramic and zirconium restorations is increasing and sometimes you have to make certain occlusal adjustments. The present investigation is an experimental, in vitro, comparative study that aims to evaluate the influence of three intraoral polishing systems of different commercial houses, on the roughness created in feldspathic ceramics and zirconia after a wear or occlusal adjustment. For the study, 30 samples were used, ceramic feldespática (Solera) Italian with Spanish certification in presentation of rectangular tablets, and 30 samples of Zirconia sinterizada (Zirkonzahn) in presentation of rectangular tablets. The first group was the control group, which did not receive any type of polishing, nor was it abraded. The three following groups represented the commercial houses of Jota (Switzerland), Diatech (USA) and Jiffy (USA) respectively. All ceramic samples were abraded with a diamond tip in the form of a medium grain lentil in a high speed hand piece to simulate the elimination of high contact points. Then, the three study groups were polished according to the indications of each commercial house. For the surface roughness analysis, a SRT 6200 rugosimeter was used, and statistical tests were performed for Dunnova's Anova and Multiple Range. The lowest value of the roughness measurements for feldespatica was obtained by the Jota polishing kit, followed by Diatech and Jiffy. The intraoral zirconium polishing kit that obtained the most effectiveness in reducing surface roughness was the Jota system, followed by the Jiffy system and the Diatech system. It is concluded that there is no statistically significant difference of the surface roughness in the feldespatica ceramics between the three commercial houses studied: Jota, Brasseler and Jiffy.en
