Molecular mimicry is one of the evolutionary strategies that pathogens use to manipulate host metabolism and functions. Several strategies have been designed to detect cases of molecular mimicry in silica; However, a model has not been developed to detect this phenomenon in plant-pathogenic systems. As such, this work developed for the first time an in silico method to detect mimetic candidates, using the Ustilago maydis-Zea mays patosystem as a model. In this methodology, a sequence comparison between the proteome of the pathogen, the host and non-phytopathogenic fungi was used. In addition, the subcellular location of the mimicked-imitated candidates was determined. On the other hand, RNA-seq information was used to identify the co-expression of the candidates. Among the most important candidates obtained by this method are: UDP-glucose: glycoprotein glycosyltransferase, Diaphanous-related Formin, Phospholipid: diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1. These three proteins are involved in cell division, and plant establishment of the response to pathogens . For this reason, these are candidates with potential to manipulate plant cells for the benefit of the pathogen.en
