Descripción : The present work has aimed to characterize the perception of fluctuating noise of low frequencies in human beings. For this, 24 participants, men and women between 19 and 29 years old, underwent experimentation based on a psychophysical model of adjustment. In the experiment, people underwent two stages, one called the "Beating Test" and another called "Loudness Test." As parameters of the test, 4 carrier frequencies (central frequencies of the analysis) were defined: 40, 63, 80 and 1000 [Hz], which were modulated by 4 frequencies called beat frequencies: 1, 2, 5 and 12 [Hz ]. In the first stage, each subject had to look for the point of maximum fluctuation of a modulated stimulus by adjusting a higher tone TU and a lower tone TL, whose difference was equal to the modulation frequency, and its midpoint to that of carrier In the second stage, based on the responses of the first part, the participant had to match the intensity of a fluctuating tone (modulated to the beat frequencies) to that of their respective fixed tone (RMS at 50 [phones]). The results determined that the beat frequencies of 1 and 2 [Hz] were perceived on average with a higher level compared to the fixed tone, that of 5 [Hz] was perceived on average almost equal to that tone and, the beat frequency of 12 [Hz] was perceived with a lower level. As a contribution to the research, the implementation of a subwoofer for infrasound was carried out. In this way, two adaptations of the driver were evaluated in comparison to the previous system, measuring the response parameters in frequency (between 10 and 200 [Hz]) and harmonic distortion (for 4 harmonics of the fundamental). Once the tests were completed, it was concluded that the subwoofer with a long hose adaptation was the most suitable system for the reproduction of frequencies below 20 [Hz].
