dc.descriptionThe present work deploys an analysis over the New Maritime Silk Road that is being carried out by the Chinese government through the Economic Belt and New Maritime Silk Road Initiative launched in 2013. This proposal presented under the context of a weak recovery of the global economy due to the financial crisis of 2008-2009 and under an scenario of interdependence among nations; aims to attract countries of Southeast Asia, members of ASEAN to be part of this new model of integration under the ideal of peace, development and cooperation for the region. By the usage of the Institutional Neoliberal Theory and the Theory of the International Regimes, this work pretends to explain if the New Maritime Route of the Silk is framed within the structure of the international regimes or, on the other hand, this proposal constitutes only a new mechanism of integration with a China-centric perspective. A qualitative research methodology is been used, comprised of observation and content analysis, allowing a theoretical and discursive comparison. For this reason, four dimensions of analysis were created: I. Macroeconomic Condition, II.) Global Commitment, III.) Responsibility, IV.) Soft Power and Public Diplomacy. By means of this research, it can be concluded that although China meets several conditions as a world power, these are not enough for the New Maritime SilkRoad Initiative to become a model of international regimes.en
