dc.descriptionThe flower sector in Ecuador has increased its participation in the international market, the exports of the last 10 years show the growth, since, in the first quarter of 2008, 27,895 t were exported, increasing to 46,352 t in the first quarter of 2018, what has generated economic benefits for producers and job places; however, the increase in production has caused considerable soil wear, due to the massive application of pesticides. The main problem is the accumulation of its residues that impede the normal course of edaphic biochemical processes, by the substantial reduction of beneficial microorganisms. The consequence of this is the gradual reduction in productivity, which sooner or later will lead to the closure of many plantations. Under these circumstances it is necessary to design and implement soil decontamination methodologies that prevent the accumulation of pesticides in them, and their definitive deterioration. One of the adequate methodologies to solve this problem is bioremediation, which uses autochthonous soil microorganisms for the complete mineralization of pesticides, without the production of high toxicity secondary metabolites and residual products that require additional treatments, which, as is evident, generate enormous economic expenditures. In this project, contaminated soil samples were taken from a flower shop located in the parish of Tanicuchi, province of Cotopaxi, in order to isolate tolerable soil microorganisms with the capacity to degrade organophosphorus pesticides. The study was carried out at the laboratory scale, where the kinetic parameters of the degradation process and of the Na and K humates were analyzed, on the degradation rate of the experimental pesticides. The ability of isolated microorganisms to degrade pesticides (Bacillus thuringensis and Bacillus megatherium), was evaluated by turbidity tests, of all the positive strains, those with the highest turbidity values were selected and used in degradation tests of the organophosphorus pesticide diazol, cultivated in mineral medium, Difco Bushnel, at 30 ℃, using the only source of carbon, the pesticide. The concentration of diazol used was 600 ppm, while the humates were used in two concentrations, 0.01 and 05 porcent. The course of the degradation was evaluated by measuring the absorbance of the experimental solution, for 30 days every 3 days. The results will make it possible to design a proposal for the remediation of soils affected by this type of pesticides for the floriculture sector and to protect the soil T resource.en
