The relationship between ketosis (clinical or subclinical) and transitional period, postpartum period, feeding, management, production and reproduction are a challenge for those who deal with this disease in their cows since under diagnosis causes economic effects, The purpose of this study is to analyze milk production, body condition and number of births as risk elements to cause subclinical ketosis in dairy cows, establish their association and prepare a standardized operating procedure in using test strips combina 10 M HUMAN at farm El Placer. By using inclusion and exclusion criteria, records were selected through urine sampling and recorded in prepartum, partum and 15, 30, 60 and 90 days postpartum from which 29 cows were selected. Each record has a subclinical ketosis diagnosis with test strips combina 10 M HUMAN, measure of body condition and milk production. The information obtained was analyzed by using central tendency measures, Friedman test, Pearson Chi-squared test and Cramers V test. Results indicate that subclinical ketosis depends on milk production 60 days postpartum (p smaller than 0.05) and 90 days postpartum (p smaller than 0.05) with a 57 percent to 61 percent of association with each other, considering milk production as risk element. Regarding variables body condition and number of births, respect of subclinical ketosis, the results obtained did not have significant difference (p more than 0.05) and were categorized as independent without association with each other. It was concluded that milk production is directly related to the disease, stating that test strips combina 10 M HUMAN can identify subclinical ketosis in cattle.en
