The objective of this experimental study is to evaluate beeswax and dental wax as antibiotic diffusion methods. This study was performed in the laboratories of the Universidad de las Américas, by antibiogram tests. The beeswax and dental wax were diluted and each dilution was mixed with the antibiotic, measuring the sensitivity of these waxes as antibiotic diffusers against ATCC bacteria on Mueller Hinton agar in the in-vitro way. For this, dilutions of Amikacin with m0.09 percent sodium chloride were made for the three subgroups that were executed for each of the waxes. The study took as reference the procedure of regional perfusion, which argues that the increase of the volume in a solution maintains the same action of the solutes; thus thirty repetitions were made for each subgroup, which was tested for the two methods of diffusion. In the same way, controls with filter paper were maintained to see the sensitivity of the antibiotic in these dilutions against the ATCC S. S. aureus BAA976 bacteria. To evaluate sensitivity, univariate and bivariate statistical tests were used, performing as a maximum test comparison of variables by the Anova statistical method. These tests showed that beeswax and dental wax, although they have favorable results, are not statistically significant. The study also determined that the method is effective if the mixture is homogenized and the waxes maintain the antibiotic as a stable particle.en
